STAFF ACCOUNTANT           (Regular Full-Time Exempt)        Starting Salary: $18.31/hr
Position Purpose:  The Staff Accountant performs work under the general supervision of the Operations Officer in coordination with the Assistant Director of Finance, the City Controller, and the Director of Finance. This position is responsible for implementing specialized accounting projects and daily accounting activities. The position also is responsible for assisting and presenting monthly financial reports. This position will assist in the preparation of the annual City Budget and the annual City CAFR and is responsible for performing other control implementation issues across City departments as deemed necessary by the Operations Officer, the Assistant Director of Finance, and the Director of Finance.

Experience Required: Bachelor Degree in accounting strongly preferred; related experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability; experience in banking and investments, public budgeting, and accounting a plus.  Use of spreadsheets, word processing, relational databases, AS/400 operating environment, and high-end computerized fund accounting software is required.

FINANCE CLERK – ACCOUNTING       (Full-time)       Starting Rate: $12.97/hr
Position Purpose: Provides primary responsibility for detailed data entry of accounts payable and accounts receivable processing including vendor/customer file maintenance, check issuance & remittance, 1099 records management, invoicing & statement processing, cash receipts and account adjustments.  Performs purchase order and encumbrance control, maintains property management records and employee travel and expense reimbursement records, as well as various other tasks relating to Finance Department functions.  Provides effective communication regarding accounting issues with customers, vendors, City staff & the general public.

Experience Required:  High school diploma or equivalent required; plus two (2) years professional work experience in accounts payable/receivables and/or payroll or combination of education and training that provides the required experience.

ZONING INSPECTION OFFICER I/II                     Starting Salary: $16.49 - $17.46/hr (full-time)
Position Purpose: The Zoning Inspection Officer is responsible for ensuring that private property and construction and development projects conform to zoning and subdivision regulations, conditions of approval, and other applicable regulations; for inspection, investigation, and resolution of zoning enforcement issues; and for other planning functions necessary to assist with the City's orderly growth and property maintenance. 

Experience Required: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent, or vocational school, supplemented by experience in working with the public in a government setting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the overall capacity to perform the job.  

Knowledge of zoning and subdivision regulations, municipal codes, and the development review and approval process preferred; computer software including word processing and spreadsheets; use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) a plus. The Zoning Inspection Officer II also must have two (2) years Zoning Inspection Officer I position & be certified by the American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE) as a Certified Zoning Inspection Officer and by the Kansas Association of Code Enforcement (KACE).

VISITOR SERVICES / STORE ATTENDANT      (Regular Part-Time)     Starting Rate $9.22/hr.
Provide friendly and professional customer service; answer guest questions; answer telephone; receipt money for admission and program fees; key in registration data; maintain appearance of store and assist with inventory; interface with a large variety of people. Computer use to include sales, registrations (RecTrac), and data entry.  Basic accounting procedures and excellent communication skills.  Valid driver’s license required.

ACTIVITY LEADER               (Regular Part-Time)            Starting Rate: $12.05/hr
Position Purpose: Develop, implement, and supervise recreational activities, issue recreational equipment, and secure the Douglass Community Center buildings and grounds to ensure a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for Center patrons. Experience Required: High School diploma or equivalent and enrollment or coursework in an accredited college or university majoring in recreation or a related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills,
and abilities. Knowledge of equipment and facilities used in recreational events and activities.  The ability to assist in developing and facilitating recreational programs designed to fulfill the needs of the community; establish and maintain effective working
relationships with co-workers, municipal officials, and the general public; valid drivers license. Afternoons, evenings, and weekends, 20 hours per week.

STORE COORDINATOR          (Temporary Part-Time)         Starting Rate: $15.00/hr.
The Flint Hills Discovery Center Store Coordinator is a temporary part-time position, to be evaluated at the end of the calendar year.  Working closely with the FHDC director, the Store Coordinator will be involved with inventory mix, product development guidelines, purchasing procedures, inventory control procedures, display plans, staffing and volunteer operations, and advising on the store’s business plan.  Valid driver’s license required. Ten hours per week. Flexibility in hours worked.

ANIMAL SHELTER ASSISTANT      (Temporary Seasonal Part-Time)              $9.00 per hour 
Assist with day-to-day care of domestic animals being housed at the shelter.  Familiarity with animal behavior and diseases.  Assess incoming animal’s breed, age, and general physical condition, and report information to staff.  Handle customer service by assisting with adoptions; answer questions, input information into computer; conduct monetary transactions.  Clean and maintain animal areas of the shelter. Handle animals.    Open until filled.
