Who We Are
Planning Division Activities:  The Planning Division is responsible for performing long range planning functions for the community, as well as providing current planning and zoning administration services.  Long range planning initiatives include: developing land use plans, neighborhood and district plans; and policy guidelines to guide the preservation, growth, and development of the City and urbanizing area; and examining the patterns and implications of various growth alternatives.  Current planning and zoning administration activities include assisting property owners, developers, business and neighborhood groups, and citizens throughout the community, by facilitating the planning and zoning process, and administering and enforcing zoning, subdivision and flood plain regulations.  The Planning Division also provides census and demographic information, and assistance to the public on economic development matters.

Staff:  The Planning Division has five Planners that have gained professional certification: Eric Cattell, AICP, Assistant Director for Planning;  Steve Zilkie, AICP, Senior Planner - Current Planning; Lance Evans, AICP, Senior Planner - Long Range Planning; Cam Moeller, AICP, Planner II - Long Range Planning; and Chad Bunger, AICP, Planner - Current Planning.  Karen Davis, AICP, Director of Community Development is also a certified planner. 

Certifications:  The American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is the professional institute of the American Planning Association concerned with requirements for certification of professional planners, ethics, professional development, planning education, and the standards of practice.
