Guests can now tour Sunset Zoo virtually through Google Maps Street View – a feature available in Google Maps, Google Earth and Google Maps for mobile that allow users across the world to virtually explore a location at street level. Google staff used a three-wheel pedicab called a trike that was mounted with Street View cameras to ride throughout the 26-acre Zoo. To learn more about the Street View Trike, watch this YouTube video.

To view Sunset Zoo on Google Map’s Street View, click the link above. This will launch a virtual map; to view at the street level (or in this case trail level) locate the yellow person icon (aka “Pegman”) on the upper left of the virtual map. Click and drag the Pegman to the place you want to see on the map and then you can rotate or take a virtual “walk” around the Zoo. To learn more visit this Google tutorial page.

Sunset Zoo encourages community members, educators and Zoo friends to utilize this advanced technology as they plan their visit to the park. Guests can get a better understanding of the Zoo’s terrain, layout of the Zoo, and even calculate distance from one area of the park to another.
