                                            PUBLIC WORKS – WATER AND WASTEWATER

Starting Salary: $13.41/hr (Operator) - $17.06/hr (Operator IV)

Position Purpose: Assists in providing a safe and adequate supply of water for the public use and fire protection by operating and maintaining a lime softening water treatment plant, with associated pump stations, wells, storage tanks, and other operating and support equipment.

Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent; no experience necessary for Plant Operator position, training will be provided. Plant Operator positions I – IV must have appropriate KDHE Water Supply System Operator Certification.  Person hired as Operator must attain Operator I certification status, or higher, within eighteen (18) months of employment.
Special Requirements: Must maintain a valid driver’s license.            Shift Work:  Midnight – 8 a.m.

ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER                             
Salary:  $80,496.00 - $128,960.00/yr DOQ               (Regular Full-Time, Exempt)           Recruitment Brochure

Position Purpose: Motivated, organized, hard-working professional sought as a key member of the City’s management team.  Performs highly responsible administrative work related to a wide range of municipal functions, under general direction of the City Manager and Deputy City Manager in a full-service City.

Experience Required:  Master's Degree in Public Administration or equivalent is required, and three to five years experience working in a City Manager or equivalent career track, demonstrating increasingly varied and complex responsibilities and duties in local government.

Temporary / Seasonal Positions (Non-benefit eligible)

FIRE HYDRANT MAINTENANCE  (Seasonal Full-Time)     
Starting: $9.50 to $10.50 / hr DOQ

Position Purpose:  To contribute to the public health and fire protection by ensuring that all City water hydrants are clear of obstructions and flowing properly with adequate and appropriate water volume. In addition to this maintenance, the incumbent also maintains a database identifying flow pressures and locations of the City’s hydrants.

Requirements:  Must be at least 18 years of age, possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Starting Salary: $9.50         

                                                    Horticulture, Parks, Forestry, Cemetery – Spring and Summer

Experience Required: Knowledge of basic maintenance activities; ability to read and comprehend written material.

Position Purpose: Provides labor, operates machinery and various equipment.  Assists in routine construction, maintenance, and some special event set-up activities; landscaping, turf, and irrigation maintenance; various other duties as required.  Work duties are variable depending upon the work group.

Special Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to operate riding mowers and physically operate gas powered landscaping equipment. 

                                             40 Hour Per Week - Summer Seasonal Employment, (non-benefit eligible)

Spring/Summer Seasonal – Recreational/Seasonal Positions
Starting Salaries: $7.25/hr to $25.00/game, pending position & qualifications

Position Listing: Umpires, referees, instructors and program supervisors for various sports programs (baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc); ball field maintenance; and pool employees.

Special Requirements: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Prior seasonal employees are encouraged to re-apply. Seasonal positions are non-benefit eligible.
