About the Public Works Department
Our mission is to provide the community with the resources to efficiently manage and maintain those services and facilities that are vital to the community's health, safety and welfare. Public Works is committed to provide for the construction and maintenance of the city's infrastructure including street, storm sewer, traffic control, flood protection, high quality drinking water and the return of that water to the environment through the wastewater treatment process.

Online Water / Sewer Utility Information
You can now pay your Water/Sewer Utility Bill online or if you want to start new water or sewer service or to disconnect your current service, please call (785) 587-2480.

Dig Safe
Before beginning any type of construction, you need to call "Dig Safe' at 1-800-DIG-SAFE (1-800) 344-7233.  You think you may know where the electric, gas, water, sewer phone, cable TV or other lines are located on your property, however, you need to be 100% sure of their location in order to avoid disaster.  City Utility Locaters will go to your property, at no cost to you, and locate any necessary lines. Color coded flags will be placed marking the locations of specific lines. You can also go online at www.kansasonecall.com and place an Internet Locate Request.
